Posts: 16 (07/06/02 12:18:16) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None I was using my computer last week when we had an electrical storm here and it has totally @#%$ with my computer! I've had to re-install a bunch of drivers and there are a few other things that are not operating properly. Can someone tell me exactly what "systray" is or does, because that program seems to be missing from the list of running programs. Whenever I use the control+shift +delete to close running programs so I can scan for viruses or defrag, "systray" is missing from the list of programs. How do I get it back, or do I need to get it back? NP-AQMB

Another possibility would be to try and copy the systray.exe to your system either from the Win98 CD or from another good working system. Location of the systray.exe in Win98 if Im not mistaken is in the dir C:/Windows/System/. I do have that tray in the bottom right hand corner, and currently MSN Messenger, my Anti-virus software (Norton) and ATI icon, and my Taskscheduler are visible. When I press Control +Alt +Delete, the programs running are Explorer, Blackice, Msmsgs, poproxy, Navapw32,Wmencagt,Hplamp, Stimon, Atiptaxx, and Hpsjvxd.I don't see Systray. I'm not sure you can answer this here, but how do I go about "formatting and reinstalling Windows?" I'm not that computer literate, although I've usually been able to fix most problems with a little guidance. Is doing what you suggested a big job? Thanks for the help here! NP-AQMB

But, I strongly suggest that you get a friend who has done it before to help while you observe how he does it. An important rule to a successful installation is to do your homework like preparing all the necessary drivers for your system beforehand. Formatting in short means to erase or remove all stored data on a disk.
